Farmers' plight: BJP observes 1-hour 'Chaka jam' in Baragarh

Bargarh, Nov 1: The Bargarh unit of BJP today observed a one-hour 'Ckaha jam' strike to highlight the plight of farmers in the district.

Holding the State Government responsible for the farmer suicide cases, activists of the saffron party staged road blockade at major locations disrupting vehicular movements.

The saffron party hit the streets in different parts of the district from 11 am to 12 noon after two farmers allegedly committed suicide in recent past in the district due to crop loss and loan burden.

Brunda Sahu, who set fire to the paddy on half acre of land on Tuesday in Kalapani village in Bargarh district after being unable to bear the brown plant hopper (BPH) that damaged his standing paddy crop, today committed suicide by consuming poison in the devastated field putting the State Government in a fix.
