Accord Class III status to GRSs: Dharmendra urges Tomar

Bhubaneswar, Nov 2: Union Petroleum and Skill Development Minister Dharmandra Pradhan has urged the Union Panchayati Raj Minister Narendra Singh Tomar to accord Class III Government employee status to the Gram Rozgar Sevaks (GRSs) and to fulfil their other demands.

Pradhan has written a letter to Tomar in this regard. In the letter sent on Wednesday, Pradhan mentioned that the All Odisha Gram Rozgar Sevak Sangha has urged him to place its grievances before the Union Government. 'The association has urged me for an increase in their salary and job regularisation,' he mentioned in the letter.

He apprised that the GRSs play a very vital role in implementation of MGRENGS, project audits and collection of online data. However, they are still working on a contractual basis and being neglected, Dharmendra wrote quoting the association.

He urged the Union Minister to consider the GRSs demands sympathetically at the earliest.
