Farmers burn crops in Nuapada to draw govt attention to large-scale pest attack

Nuapada, Nov 2: After the farmers of Bargarh and Jharsuguda districts in the state burnt their grown paddy crops in last two days, the farmers of the Palasada village under Baden block in Nuapada district set their paddy field on fire today due to severe pest attack on their crops.

The farmers burnt their crop on acres and acres of paddy field as they could not stop the attack of brown planthopper pest.

The helpless farmers took the extreme step as they didn't get any support from the government to address the pest attack on their paddy crops, said a villager on the condition of anonymity .
