Congress shifts rape protest to Raj Bhavan

Bhubaneswar, Nov 2: Decrying the inordinate delay in arresting the accused involved in the gang-rape of a minor tribal girl in Koraput district, the Congress today staged a dharna near Raj Bhavan here. The ST, SC cell of the party organised the strike.

The protestors demanded immediate arrest of the accused persons, a judicial probe into the mishap, Rs 50 lakh compensation to the rape survivor and also to make the medical report of the survivor public.

It may be noted that, the incident occurred on October 10 near Kunduli village when the Class IX student was returning home from market. She was allegedly waylaid by four men, who were wearing uniforms, and dragged to a nearby forest and gang raped.
