Injured SOG jawan airlifted to Vishakhapatnam

Bhubaneswar: Critically injured Special Operation Group (SOG) jawan Chandrabhanu Bhoi was on Monday morning shifted to Vishakhapatnam for better treatment. Bhoi

The jawan was injured in a Maoist ambush on Sunday near Mahakhanda forest in Kantabanji. There was an exchange of fire in which Bhoi was hit by a bullet in the stomach injuring him critically.

The ultras attacked the SOG team while they were going for a combing operation in the region at around 9 pm. Soon after the incident, Bhoi was rushed to the Bolangir District Headquaretrs Hospital while he was given primary treatment.

However, as the DHH lacks necessary facilities to deal with such cases, the authorities decided to shift him to Vishakhapatnam for better treatment.

Accordingly, IG (Operations) RP Koche arrived at Bolangir along with the Pawan Hans helicopter and facilitated the shifting the hurt jawans to Vishakhapatnam for treatment. Bolangir Collector, SP and CDMO were monitoring the treatment of the jawan throughout the night on Sunday at the Bolangir DHH.
