Gangrape: OHRC directs personal appearance of Koraput med college chief on Nov 10

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC) today directed the Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital Superintendent Sitaram Mohapatra to appear before it personally on November 10 after he failed to submit a medical report on the health condition of the minor tribal girl who was allegedly gangraped by four uniformed men on October 10 in Koraput district.

Earlier on October 20, the commission had directed the Superintendent to submit a detailed report on the medical condition of the Class-IX minor girl on October 31. But the Superintendent failed to give the detailed report as desired by the commission. And the commission asked him to submit a detailed report on November 6.

The commission, while hearing a batch of petitions, seeking justice for the minor girl and action against the accused, the commission on October 20 had directed the medical college Superintendent to submit a report on her medical condition on October 31. However, the report did not contain details of the survivor's medical condition forcing the commission to summon the Superintendent.

The survivor was undergoing treatment at the Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital.

The Class-IX girl of Sarispadar Sevashram School, who is a native of Musaguda village under Pottangi police limits, had alleged that she was kidnapped and gang-raped by four armed security personnel, who were in jungle patch uniform in Lanjiguda forest while returning from Kunduli on October 10. Police are yet to get any clue about the miscreants.
