Bandh hits normal life in Sharankul

Nayagarh: Normal life in Sharankul town in Nayagarh district was hit due to a 12-hour Bandh being observed by locals in protest against deteriorating health services in the town.

Locals have blocked the main road by burning tyres as a result of which vehicular movement on the Nayagarh-Bhanjanagar road has been severely disrupted.

Besides, shops, bazaars, schools and colleges have remained closed.

'Five of the seven sanctioned doctor posts are vacant for long. Though we have approached the administration umpteen times, our demand has remained unheeded. After staging a dharna for a month, we have called the Sharankul Bandh today,' said agitating locals.

They demanded that the administration give them a written assurance to appoint doctors and streamline the health services in the town.
