Odisha Cong to observe 'Black Day' tomorrow

Bhubaneswar: The Congress's Odisha unit will observe the first anniversary of demonetisation as 'Black Day' on November 8.

Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee president Prasad Harichandan said that party workers would hold protest rally and candle light march in all district headquarters along with the State capital.

Party protestors will also wear black strips to express their protest and a candle march will be taken out in every district headquarters and State capital on the day, he added.

'Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while announcing ban of high value currency notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 from circulation, had asserted that the initiative is aimed at eliminating black money, corruption and fake notes and put a curb on terror funding. But all these claims proved wrong and the intention of the Modi Government has been exposed,' said Harichandan.

As per the plan, Congress workers would hold a protest rally from the Congress Bhavan and hold a meeting in front of RBI office covering Ram mandir, Housing Board Square. Later in the evening, a candle night rally would be held near Ram Mandir to register their protest.
