Family of 5 commit 'Mass Suicide', Bodies found on railway tracks

Sambalpur: In a heart-wrenching incident, five members of a family got crushed under the wheels of a running train near Sarala Junction in the wee hours of Wednesday in the district here. It is suspected that the family might have committed mass suicide. The reason for this mass suicude is not yet known.

The deceased were identified as Dharanidhar Panda, his wife Sangita Panda and their three daughters, out of which two were identified as Ananya Panda and Aparajita Panda. Dharanidhar was reportedly working as a music teacher in a private school in Sambalpur.

As per sources, driver of Sambalpur - Jharsuguda DMU had on Tuesday night informed the GRP about the dead bodies. GRP along with Railway Protection Force (RPF) had arrived at the spot and recovered the bodies.

Police has started investigation into the reason behind this unfortunate incident.
