Traffic on NH 49 hit as displaced staged road blockade

Deogarh: Vehicular movement on the National Highway No.49 connecting Kolkata and Mumbai was severely affected as displaced of the highway staged a Rasta Roko at Barkote on Friday.

Due to the road blockade being staged by MLA Nitish Gangdeb, thousands of trucks and other vehicles have been stranded at different places on the highway.

The displaced persons of Barkote block in Deogarh district have demanded adequate compensation for the land they had lost for construction and expansion the National Highway. 

Police have been trying to placate the agitators now.
