Despite Govt package, yet another farmer ends live in Bolangir

Bhubaneswar: Despite the fact that the Odisha Government has announced a special package for farmers affected by drought and pest menace, there is no let-up in the spate of suicides western Odisha districts.

Yet another farmer identified as Radhakanta Suna of Semulia village under Sadar block of Bolangir who had consumed poison on November 12 died today while while undergoing treatment at VIMSAR in Burla.

Sources said his paddy crops were damaged by crops due to which he was in stress thinking how to repay the loan that he had taken for farming purpose.

Unable to bear the trauma, he had attempted suicide on Sunday by consuming poison in his paddy fields. He was immediately rushed to the Bolangir District Headquarters Hospital (DHH). Later he was shifted to VIMSAR, Bural as his condition deteriorated.
