Bhubaneswar: In a major jolt to Odisha BJP ahead of the Bijepur by-poll, party Bargarh district unit chief Narayan Sahu today formally resigned from the party and decided to join the ruling BJD on December 3.
Showing dissatisfaction over the saffron party's work culture, Sahu today resigned from the post and visited BJD president and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik's residence to meet him with a host of BJD leaders.
After meeting with the CM, Sahu told reporters that he was inspired by the working style of Naveen Patnaik and will join the regional party on December 3.
Earlier, Sahu had clarified that he is not resigning from the BJP following the induction of BJD leader Ashok Panigrahi to the party fold in Bijepur but had requested the party's State leadership to relieve him from the district president post so that he can work for the party only just as a party worker for the ensuing by-election.
On the other hand BJP spokesperson Sajjan Sharma said Narayan Sahu's resignation would have no impact on BJP.
