PCC chief denied access to meet Koraput rape survivor

Bhubaneswar: OPCC president Prasad Harichandan was not allowed to meet the minor tribal girl of Koraput, who was alleged that she was gangraped by four uniformed security personnel in Kunduli forest in Koraput district on October 10, at the SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack.

The Class-IX girl is now undergoing treatment at the SCB in a critical condition. She was kept in the ICU under the supervision of a team of doctors.

'The State Government is trying to suppress Kunduli gangrape case. It is unfortunate that I was not allowed to meet the survivor at the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack,' said Harichandan.

A team of Congress delegation led by Harichandan had gone to SCB to meet the girl.

The minor girl was shifted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack on Monday after her condition deteriorated. She was rushed from a hospital in Koraput to SCB here on Saturday night after she threw up blood.

As her health condition showed no improvement, she was shifted to the ICU of the medicine department. Doctors treating the girl suspect that she tried to commit suicide by consuming over a dozen iron pills.
