Bhubaneswar: Social activist Anna Hazare will address thousands of farmers in Jagatsinghpur today in which he is expected to touch upon the issue of 'agrarian crisis' and the 'alleged suicide of farmers' in the State.
He is also expected to touch upon the issue of the prevailing problems in agriculture sector such as crop loss, loan burden and slipshod attitude of the State Government in addressing the problems of the peasants leading to their suicides.
The proposed Jay Kisan Mahasamavesh will be held in front of Jagatsinghpur district Collectorate where thousands of farmers from different parts of the State are scheduled to attend.
The Navnirman Krushak Sangathan, a farmers' body fighting for the cause of the peasants, is organising the rally to reiterate its demand for price, pension and prestige for farmers. Rally will also to put pressure on the Government to increase paddy price to Rs 2,930 per quintal.
