SC closes Itishree murder case as CBI fails to trace unidentified accused


Bhubaneswar: The sensational Itishree Pradhan murder case was closed by the Supreme Court today. Sources said the CBI has failed to identify and trace the unidentified miscreant who set the lady teacher on fire.

Earlier on November 18, The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) submitted the final report on the sensational lady teacher Itishree Pradhan murder case in the Supreme Court in a sealed envelope.

Earlier to this, the CBI had submitted the preliminary probe report and status report in the Supreme Court.

On January 20, 2015 while taking up a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by a law student Sudipta Lenka in Bengaluru, the Supreme Court had ordered the CBI probe into murder of Itishree Pradhan, a young school teacher of Tikiri Primary School in Rayagada district. She was set on fire on night of October 27, 2013 by some unidentified miscreants inside the school premises. She was rushed to the Rayagada District Headquarters Hospital with severe burn injuries and later shifted to Vishakhapatnam where she succumbed to her injuries after six days.
