Man critical in jumbo attack in Angul

Angul: In yet another man-animal conflict, a villager was critically injured after being attacked by an elephant in Jhimiripali village under Pallahada block in Angul district early this morning.

The injured, identified as Meenaketan Sahoo of Jhimiripali village, has been shifted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital as his condition worsened.

According to reports, Meenaketan was going to attend call of nature when a jumbo attacked him at the village-end. Hearing his screams, locals rushed to him and managed to rescue him. They first rushed him to a local Government hospital where doctors referred him to the SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack. Meenaketan is undergoing treatment there now.

Villagers are in a state of fear now as the elephant is still moving near the village.
