Farmers' plight: Narasingha slams BJP, BJD


Bhubaneswar: Leader of Opposition (LoP) Narasingha Mishra today severely slammed the BJP and the BJD for their alleged failure in resolving the farmers' problems and said their cry for justice for farmers in the Assembly is like 'devils preaching Bible.'

Mishra said he was disappointed for not being given a chance to speak in House over farmers' plights.

'Though BJP and BJD are ruling parties at the Centre and State, respectively, neither they are doing their works to resolve farmers' problems. Instead of performing their duties to protect the interest of the farmers, they are creating disturbances in the Assembly. It is like devils preaching Bible,' said Mishra.

He demanded that Speaker Pradip Amat call an all party meeting to resolve the farmers' plights and also smooth functioning of the House.

Earlier in the day, when Question Hour started, Mishra tried to drew the attention of the Speaker about the prevailing problems being faced by farmers. However, he was not allowed by the Speaker.
