Kamakshyanagar Bandh over NH 53 repair demand underway

Dhenkanal: Normal life at Kamakshyanagar in Dhenknal district has gone out of gear since early this morning as the local lawyers started 12-hour Kamakshyanagar Bandh at 6 am.

The Kamakshyanagar Lawyers' Association is observing the bandh to press for fulfilment of its demand of renovation of National Highway 53 from Bhuban to Pitiri Square at the earliest.

'The NH 53 stretch from Bhuban to Pitiri Square is now full of potholes and accidents are happening more often. We have approached the NH authorities and district administration many times urging them to repair the NH, but in vain. We have been forced to observe a Kamakshyanagar Bandh in protest against their lackadaisical attitude,' said agitating lawyers.

Locals have also joined them in the Bandh. Hundreds of trucks and other vehicles have stranded on the both sides of the NH due to road blockade.
