House adjourned: MLAs to witness Hockey World League Final inaugural event

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Assembly was adjourned till Monday after MLAs demanded for an adjournment to attend the inaugural ceremony of Hockey World League Final today evening.

Speaker Pradip Amat adjourned the House till Monday to facilitate that all the MLAs, cutting across party lines to attend a glittering inaugural event of the eight-nation Hockey World League (HWL) Final matches.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is scheduled to inaugurate the Hockey World League to be held at the Kalinga Stadium today evening. The mega event will be held between December 1 and 10.

While Germany and England will play on the opening of the tournament on December 1, it will be followed by hosts India playing Australia in the second match. India will also play on December 2 and 4 with England and Germany, respectively at the Kalinga Stadium here.

Sources said special arrangements have been made for the legislators to witness the inaugural ceremony at 6.30 pm at the stadium.

The Commissionerate police has made elaborate security arrangements for players, delegates and visitors.
