Pest attack: Another Bargarh farmer ends life

Bargarh: Despite the fact that the Odisha Government has released financial assistance for the farmers affected by unseasonal rains and pest attack, there is no let-up in the spate of suicides western Odisha districts.

Yet another farmer identified as Debendra Thapa of Khapasipali village under Bheden block in Bargarh who consumed poison on Thursday allegedly due to crop loss and loan burden died on Thursday night while undergoing treatment.

Sources said his paddy crops were damaged by pests due to which he was in stress thinking how to repay the loan that he had taken for farming purpose.

Unable to bear the trauma, he had attempted suicide on Thursday by consuming pesticide. He was immediately rushed to the hospital nearby. He died on Thursday night while undergoing treatment.
