VHP's 12-hr Kandhamal Bandh underway; normal life hit

Baliguda: Normal life has gone out of gear in Kandhamal district as the Vishwa Hindu Parishad began 12-hour bandh in protest against transfer of managing committee of the Jagannath Temple, Baliguda.

The VHP activists have demanded transfer of Baliguda SDPO and Sub-Collector for transferring the management committee. The police have detained VHP, Kandhamal district president Paresh Mohapara.

Due to bandh, shops and bazaars and schools and colleges have remained closed and vehicular movement disrupted severely since morning.

Adequate numbers of security personnel have been deployed to ensure that no awkward incident occurs at any place in the district during the bandh.
