2nd Brahmani bridge delayed for unavailability of land: Gadkari

Bhubaneswar: In the wake of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik slamming the Centre for not beginning the second Brahmani bridge at Rourkela, Union Minister of Road Transport & Highways, Shipping and Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation Nitin Gadkari has passed the buck on the State Government saying that the construction work has been delayed due to non-availability of land from the State Government.

'The required land has not been handed over to the National Highway Authority of India. The construction work will begin within seven days from the day of availability of land from the State Government,' Gadkari mentioned in his reply to a letter of the CM.

It may be noted that Gadkari had laid foundation stone for the bridge in July this year. As the work did not begin on time, the Chief Minister had written to Gadkari at the earliest. Recently, the Chief Minister slammed the Centre for not beginning the construction work and said the State Government would construct the bridge on its own funds if Centre does further delay.
