12-hr Barpali Bandh over subdivision status, hits normal life

Barpali: Normal life has gone out of gear in Barapali block area in Bargarh district due to a 12-hour bandh began by locals under the banner of the Barapali Citizens' Committee this morning.

The committee is observing the bandh to press for its demand of accordance of subdivision status to Barpali block at the earliest.

Shops, bazaars and schools have remained closed. Vehicular movement on the main road has been disrupted as agitators blocked the road by burning tyres at different places.

Adequate personnel have been deployed to ensure that no awkward incident occurs during the bandh.
