Assembly adjourned till 3pm amid ruckus over Mahanadi dispute

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Assembly witnessed uproarious scenes and was adjourned till 3pm today over the Union Government's denial to constitute a tribunal to resolve Mahanadi water dispute between Odisha and Chhattisgarh.

As the House met at 10.30 am, BJD members stood at their seats and protested the BJP-ruled Centre's denial to form a tribunal shouting slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Union Government.

Within no moment, Congress and BJP members rushed into the Well of the House and shouted slogans.

While BJP members criticised the State Government for not giving sufficient data for formation of a tribunal, Congress members alleged that both the Union and the State Governments are responsible for the Mahanadi issue.

Amid sloganeering, Speaker Pradeep Kumar Amat adjourned the House at 10.30 am till 3 pm Thursday.
