Govt health insurance policy: 1.75 lakh patients benefitted

Bhubaneswar: The number of patients getting benefits under the Health Insurance Policy initiated by the State Government is showing a downward trend annually.

A total of 1,75,437 patients have got the facility of health policy in 2017-18 financial year. A total of Rs 72,52,26,569 was spent for the purpose by the State Government.

While Mayubhanj recorded the highest number of 11,066 beneficiaries, in Koraput as many as 8,429 persons availed the facility followed by 8,183 in Ganjam, 7,018 in Keonjhar, 6,066 in Kandhamal and 2,005 in Khurda.

A total of five insurance companies have been entrusted for the purpose in 30 districts in the State.

In 2016-17 FY, a total of 3, 41, 559 got the facility and in 2015-16 the number came down to 3,30,343.
