Hardcore criminal nabbed after police encounter

Cuttack: Continuing its crackdown on anti-social elements to reduce crime in the city, police today nabbed a wanted criminal Tapan Nayak following an exchange of fire here. 

Tapan received bullet injuries in his left thigh and has been admitted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, said police.

According to reports, while a team of Cuttack police was trying to nab him, Tapan opened fire at it first. The police soon retaliated and Tapan received bullet injuries and fell down.

There are many criminal cases pending against Tapan at different police stations in the Cuttack city, according to reports.
