Assembly adjourned till 3 pm over Chhattisgarh's river interlink plan

Bhubaneswar: Even as the State Assembly ran smoothly during the Question Hour today, it witnessed noisy scenes during Zero Hour over the Chhattisgarh's reported plan for interlinking rivers with the Mahanadi raised by ruling members and was adjourned till 3 pm.

As soon as the Question Hour concluded, BJD MLA Sanjay Dasburma raising the issue alleged that the Chhattisgarh Government has planned to interlink rivers with the Mahanadi arbitrarily without taking consent of the Odisha Government which has every right over Mahanadi. He demanded that the Speaker direct the Water Resources Department to submit a reply and informed the House about the neighbouring State's plans and advances.

As Speaker Pradeep Kumar Aamat didn't pay any heed, all rulling BJD members stood at their respective chairs and shouted slogans against the Chhattisgarh Government and the Union Government.
