12-hr Chitrakonda Bandh underway; normal life hit

Malkangiri: Normal life has gone out of gear at Chitrakonda in Malkangiri district because of Congress' 12-hour bandh over various demands underway now.

Schools, colleges, shops and bazaars have remained closed since early morning. Besides, vehicular movement on Chitrakonda-Jeopore and Chitrakonda-Malkangir routes have been severely hit as protestors have closed roads by burning tyres at different places.

Thousands of activists have joined the bandh being held under leadership of former MP Pradeep Majhi. Many senior leader have joined, said reports.

Construction of roads, provision of health services and appointment of teachers in schools and doctors in medicals are some of the major demands for which the party has called for the bandh.
