Odisha Assembly adjourned till 3 pm over paddy procurement row

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Assembly could not transact the Question Hour and was adjourned till 12 noon on Tuesday as it faced strong protests over paddy procurement problems by both the Opposition Congress and BJP members.

As soon as the House met at 10.30 am for the day, Leader of Opposition Narasingha Mishra wanted to say something on paddy procurement, but Speaker didn't allow him and called for holding the Question Hour. Irate at this, Congress members rushed into the Well of the House and shouted slogans against the State Government.

Similarly, BJD members alleging that paddy distress sale was going rampantly too rushed into Well of the House and shouted slogans.

Both the parties demanded that the Minister submit a reply in the House. As they didn't relent, Speaker Pradeep Kumar Amat adjourned the House till 12 noon.
