Jumbo tramples man to death in Khurda

Khurda: A man was trampled to death by a wild elephant in Khurda district.

The victim, identified as Jambeswar Champati, of Goda village in the district had gone to his cultivable land when a wild pachyderm trampled him to death.

A palpable tension prevails in the area as locals have resented inaction of forest officials in checking wild elephants’ movement into the paddy fields and human habitations. They have demanded adequate compensation for the deceased's family.
