Jumbo tramples woman to death in Angul

Angul: In another incident of man-animal conflict, a woman was killed after being attacked by an elephant in a village in Angul district early this morning.

The deceased was identified as Ujala Behera of Chitapada Talalasahi in the district. The woman had gone to attend call of nature when a jumbo came rushing to her and trampled her to death, according to reports.

A palpable tension has prevailed in the area as villagers have protested against the inaction of the forest officials that have led to such incidences more often now. They demanded adequate compensation to the family of the deceased.
