SJTA to set up hoardings to create awareness on photography ban at Srimandir

Puri: Following viral of inside photos of Srimandir, Sri Jagannath Temple administration has decided to set up hoardings around the temple to create awareness about 'photography ban' on the premises.

Hoardings will be set up around the Srimandir to create awareness about 'photography ban' on the temple premises, said Sri Jagannath Temple Administrator (SJTA) Pradip Jena on Sunday adding electronic display board will also be put on Puri-Bhubaneswar road.

The decision came in the aftermath of taking selfie on the temple premises and photographs taken in the temple were uploaded on social media recently and went viral. Devotees expressed displeasure over the incident and a lot of hue and cry erupted among the Sri Jagannath Culture lovers across the world while taking photographs and videos inside the temple is strictly prohibited.

The Singhadwara police registered case against two persons in connection with the incident of a picture of Puri Srimandir going viral on social media.

The case has been registered against Aakash Madake of Pune and Yugal Kishore Vaishnav of Raipur, who had allegedly taken pictures inside the temple's inner precinct a few days ago and posted the same on Facebook, on the basis of an FIR lodged by the temple administration.

They had taken the photographs with the help of their mobile camera during a visit to the temple with family members, few months ago.

In November, photos of repair works of Jagamohan, the hall facing the sanctum sanctorum of the 12th century shrine were posted on social media sparking resentment.

Sadanand Sharma, an official of Minerís Health and Safety, Central Institute of Mining and Fuel Research (CSIR) had posted the pictures on his Facebook page. Later, he had apologized for posting the pictures.
