12-hour Jharsuguda Bandh underway against DHH shifting

Jharsuguda: Normal life in Jharsuguda has been severely hit due to a 12-hour bandh being observed now by different organisations in protest against shifting of the district headquarters hospital (DHH) from present location Mangal Bazaar to Balijori area.

Shops, bazaars and schools and colleges have remained closed since morning. 
Besides, vehicular movement has also been severely affected as agitators have closed the roads by burning tyres. The bandh begun at 6 am will continue till 6 pm.

The hospital will be shifted to the newly-constructed seven-storied building at Balijori campus, according to the decision of the Government.

Recently, the Jharsuguda Regional Development Council gave a memorandum to the district Collector requesting that health services would be paralysed if the DHH is hurriedly shifted. The Collector expressed his helplessness as such a decision has been taken at a higher level.
