Elephant tramples elderly woman to death in Sundargarh

Rourkela: In yet another man-animal conflict, an elderly woman trampled to death by an elephant at Jareikela kapisanga village under Bisra police limits in Sundargarh district.

The deceased was identified as Padma Munda of Kapisanga village.

According to reports, the elephant trampled her to death when she was sleeping in her home.

Locals blocked the road by demanding adequate compensation to the kin of the deceased and a strict vigil on the movement of elephants in their locality.

Meanwhile, police personnel were deployed in the village to avert any further untoward incidents.
