Kaptipada Tehsildar caught red-handing taking bribe of Rs 1L

Baripada: Vigilance officers caught Mayurbhanj districtís Kaptipada Tehsildar Sharat Mallick red-handed while demanding and accepting illegal gratification of Rs 1 lakh from one Hemanta Behera to allow him to lift and sell sand from the nearby river.

According to a complaint lodged before the Vigilance office, complainant Hemant Behera had applied to the Kaptipada Tehsil's office to take a sand-bed on lease. 

However, the Tehsildar asked Behera to pay him Rs1,00,000 and take the permission. 
Acting on the complaint, Vigilance sleuths laid a trap and caught Tehsildar red-handed while taking the demanded bribe amount from complainant Behera.
