Shoes hurled at Odisha CM during Bijepur campaigning

Bargarh: A youth today hurled shoes at Chief Minister and BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik when he was addressing a public meeting at Kumbhari of Barpali in Bargarh district to campaign for his party candidate Rita Sahu for the Bijepur by-election, which is scheduled to be held on February 24.

The alerted security personnel averted the shoe attack and escorted the CM away unhurt.

The youth identified as Kartik Meher was immediately overpowered by party workers and police present here. Later he was admitted to Barpali hospital and has been detained by Bargarh police. The police have launched an investigation into the incident.

Earlier, eggs were hurled at the Chief Minister by a woman named Rajeswari Kamila while he was addressing a public meeting at Talsari in Balasore district.
