CEC is extremely disturbed over the shoe attack on CM: BJD

New Delhi: The Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) is extremely disturbed over the shoe attack on Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik during a election campaign for the Bijepur assembly by-poll and sought a report from the Odisha Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) on the incident, said BJD MP Pinaki Misra.

Misra led a six-member BJD team to the CEC to submit a memorandum on the show attack on BJD president and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday evening during a public meeting and seizure of Rs 40 lakh cash in Padmapur in by-poll bound Bijepur.

The BJD alleged that the BJP is responsible for the shoe attack on the CM.
The party also is accusing the saffron party of transporting the Rs 40 lakh cash in Padmapur for election purpose.

'We raise the issue of shoe attack on the CM and seizure of Rs 40 lakh in by-poll bound Bijepur. The CEC gave us a patience hearing and asked the CEO to submit a report on the matter soon,' said Misra, adding that the CEC also directed the CEO to enforce model code of conduct for the February 24 by-poll strictly.
