Bhubaneswar: Around 30 BJP workers were detained by Commissionerate police while trying to barge into the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik's grievance cell here alleging that huge amount of money was kept in the cell for distribution in the Bijepur for February 24 assembly by-election.
The protestors, shouting anti-Government and CM Naveen Patnaik slogans reached the main entrance of the CM's grievance cell and tried to barge into it. However, they were intercepted by security personnel.
Police managed to defuse the protestors. Meanwhile, two platoons of police forces were deployed to avert any further untoward incident.
On the other hand, a delegation of BJP leaders led by its State unit party spokesperson Sajjan Sharma met Chief Electoral Officer and submitted a memorandum alleging that money stashed in three briefcases was kept inside CM' grievance cell for distribution in Bijepur.
The saffron party demanded the CEO that it conduct immediate raid on the well-guarded building and seize the money and take stern legal action against the accused. The party also urged the CEO to ensure strict implementation of model code conduct in Bijpur.
