Trader's death: BJP activists gherao CS'pur police station, demand IIC's transfer

Bhubaneswar: Demanding immediate transfer of Chandrasekharpur police station Inspector-in charge (IIC) for his alleged inaction in cracking a suspected murder of trader here, a large number of BJP workers along with the kin of the deceased person gheraoed the police station today afternoon.

On Friday aggrieved over suspected murder of Dhaneswar Das, whose body was found with injury marks near his tent house in Housing Board Colony, a mob blocked the Jayadev Vihar-Nandankanan route for nearly two hours from 6.30 pm by placing the body near Chandrasekharpur petrol pump, leading to massive traffic jam on the busy route and also forcing the police to resort to lathicharge.

Protestors also pelted cops with stones on the police. Das was running a tent house.

The family members of Dhaneswar are alleging that he was murdered. They became angry after police, based on circumstantial evidence, said Das died in a road accident.

Accusing the police of hushing up the murder, BJP activists, friends and family members of the victim gheraoed the police station demanding proper investigation into the matter and transfer of the IIC.
