Dharmendra gets grand welcome in city

Bhubaneswar: It was a grand welcome for senior BJP leader and Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, who returned to his home state today; after being elected to Rajya Sabha from Madhya Pradesh, here.

The Union Petroleum and Natural Gas and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Minister was felicitated at the Biju Patnaik International Airport here by party workers from where he was taken to the State party headquarters near Ram Mandir in a bike rally.

He arrived to an equally rousing welcome at the party State headquarters. Several hoardings and banners have been put up to welcome him along the route between the Airport Square and party office.

This was the first visit of Pradhan to Odisha after being re-nominated to Rajya Sabha.

Pradhan was elected to Rajya Sabha from Madhya Pradesh unopposed this time. The term of Pradhan, who was elected to the Upper House from Bihar, expires on April 2.

The BJP has re-nominated eight retiring members, including seven Ministers, for the March 23 Rajya Sabha polls.
