Maoists kill Bargarh villager on suspicion of police informer

Bhubaneswar: After a long break, Maoists seem to have become active again in Bargarh district of Odisha, according to reports.

A group of Red rebels killed a villager, identified as Bijay Sahu, of Salipali under Paikamal police station. The Maoists killed Bijaya suspecting him to be a police informer.

According to eyewitnesses, some armed people came to the village at around 8 pm to Salepali and forcibly took away Bijay. Later they hacked him to death mercilessly in a nearby jungle. The body has severe cut marks all over it.

On being informed, Paikamal police went to the spot and found a letter in Bijay's pocket. It was mentioned in the letter that anybody would face the fate if Bijay if act as police informer against Maoists. They too asked villagers in the letter to oppose the Green Hunt operation of the security personnel.

Villagers too stated that the Maoists have abducted another youth of the village and he has not been traced yet.
