House adjourned repeatedly on 2nd day of Budget Session as well

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Assembly today witnessed repeated adjournments by Speaker Pradip Kumar Amat following uproar by the BJP members in the well of the House.

As soon as the House proceedings began at 10.30 am, the Speaker admitted the adjournment motion brought by the Congress for discussion on farmers' problems and asked Congress member Naba Das to initiate discussion.

However, trouble started after the BJP members stormed into the well of the House protesting the arrest of BJP leader Jayanarayan Mishra by the Padmapur police in connection with the Banabira firing case in the night on February 21.

The BJP members, while shouting slogans against the government, even tried to snatch the microphone from the Speaker's table. Unable to run the House proceedings, the Speaker adjourned the House first till 11.30 am, then till 12.10 pm and later till 3 pm.

The BJP legislators demanded a CBI probe into the Banabira firing case case leading to the death of the BJD worker.
