Naveen flags-off Barishta Nagarika Tirtha Jatra train for senior citizens

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday flagged off 6th pilgrimage train of 'Baristha Nagarika Tirtha Yatra Yojana' from Sambalpur Railway Station through video conferencing at State Secretariat here. The senior citizens departed in the train will get to visit Shirdi, Nasik and Trimbakeshwar.

Transport Minister Nrusingha Charan Sahu, Health and Law Minister Pratap Jena, Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi and other senior officials were present.

Earlier, a special train had left for Pushkar and Ajmer in Rajasthan boarding as many as 1024 pilgrims from the central division, comprising of 10 districts  in November last year.

This scheme, an initiative of the state Tourism Department, is meant for the senior citizens to give them a chance in the lifetime to visit the important pilgrimage centres of the country.
