Minor girl raped in Nilagir: Child protection cell begins probe

Balasore: After a four-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted in Nilagiri area, the Balasore District Child Protection officials today started an investigation.

A resident of Hatasahi under the jurisdiction of Nilagiri police station on Sunday lodged a complaint alleging that his daughter was sexually assaulted by his neighbour Chandan Jena (24) on April 13.

The girl was playing outside her house when the accused lured her with chocolates and took her to his house where she was sexually assaulted. The matter came to light after the victim on her return narrated the ordeal to her mother and complained of severe pain following which she was taken by her father to Nilagiri hospital.

On the basis of the complaint, a case was registered and police investigation was in progress. Meanwhile, medical test of the minor girl was conducted.

Today, the Balasore District Child Protection officials started an investigation into gruesome incident.
