No Impact Of Bandh Called By Red Rebels In Four Districts

Phulbani: A 24-hour bandh call, given by the KKBN Division of CPI (Maoist) in four districts of the state including Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Boudh and Nayagarh turned out to be a damp squib today with virtually no impact on the ground.
The bandh call by the outfit was meant to protest killing of five Maoists in police encounter at Sudrukumpa on May 13. Meanwhile adequate arrangements have been done by the police personnel to avoid any untoward situation in these districts. Additional forces have been deployed in Maoist dominated areas such as Lanjigarh, Thuamul Rampur and Bijepur in Kalahandi district, reports said .There have been no reports of violence by the red rebels so far, informed police sources. Notably, the Maoists on Wednesday blocked Baliguda Kantamala road near Sudra village in the Balliguda area of Kandhamal district by felling trees on the road disrupting vehicular communication for hours.
Posters found from the spot bearing the name of KKBN Division of CPI(Maoist) threatened the locals to observe a 24-hour Kandhamal Bandh today or face consequences.
