Seve year old girl raped in Kendrapara

Kendrapara: The disturbing trend of sexual assaults on minor girls continues unabated in the state with reports of rape of a seven year old girl at Narasinghpur area in Derabish block of Kendrapara district.
Although the shameful incident took place on May 23, it came to light after a complaint was lodged against accused at Derabish police station Thursday night. Acting on the complaint, the police arrested the accused. He was identified as Mihir Singh (28), a resident of Haladia village in Tangi area of Cuttack.
The minor girl was playing with her two siblings when Singh in an inebriated state offered them money. Subsequently, Singh took the seven year old inside a pump house and raped her.
When the three siblings returned home and narrated the incident to their family, the family members initially tried to settle the issue mutually in the village. However, they approached the police and lodged a complaint after failing to resolve the matter in the village.
The police conducted the medical examination of the minor girl and recorded the statements of her two siblings under Section 164 of CrPC. Further investigation is underway, a police official said.
