One Killed, 6 Injured As Truck Skids Off Road In Ganjam

Berhampur: One person was killed and six others critically injured after a truck they were travelling in hit a roadside tree and overturned before falling off the Taptapani Ghati near Mruga Vihar in Ganjam district today.
The deceased has been identified as Bhaskar Chandra Sahu of Olasingh village under Badapokharia Panchayat in Khurda district. The incident occurred when the truck loaded with cashew nuts was going to Khurda from Rayagada.
Sources said the truck dashed against a roadside tree and later fell off the Ghati, following which Bhaskar died on the spot. SIx others including the driver sustained critical injuries and were rushed to MKCG Medical College and Hospital here.
On receiving information, Patapur police reached the spot and seized the body. A case has been registered in this regard and investigation is on into the incident, said a police official.
