Woman killed, 25 hurt as pilgrim bus overturns in Odisha

Soro: A woman pilgrim died and 25 others sustained injuries after a bus carrying them overturned on the National Highway 16 near Panapana village in Balasore district of Odisha on Monday morning.
The accident occurred at around 6 am near Panapana village under Khantapada police limits. Among the injured, seven are women.
According to sources, the bus with 60 pilgrims was on the way to Dhamnagar in Bhadrak district from Kolkata in West Bengal when the driver lost control over the vehicle and it overturned. The woman devotee died on the spot.
The deceased was identified as Naseer Begum (45). The trapped passengers were rescued by police, fire personnel and locals. They were admitted to Soro and Khantapada hospitals.
The driver of the bus nodded off behind the wheel leading to the accident. The police visited the spot and further probe is underway.
