Naveen announces Rs 10L cash prize for para athlete Jayanti Behera

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today announced a cash prize of Rs 10 lakh for para athlete Jayanti Behera for winning bronze medal in 200-metre sprint event at the Asian Para Games held in Jakarta, Indonesia.Born in Puri's Sakhigopal in 1999, Behera is a Track and Field Athlete who represents India in the women's 200m, 400m, and 800m event. She is World youth champion in the TR 400m event and has also won the gold medal at the recent National Para Athletics Championships 2018 in Panchkula 2018.Behera won a silver medal in 100-metre race at the Asian Youth Para Games-2017 in Dubai. In the same year, she had clinched gold for India in 400-metre event at the World Junior Para Athletic Championships held in Switzerland in August.Jayanti had also won a gold medal at the China Open Para Athletic Grand Prix Championship in May 2018.
