SC holds Nageswara Rao guilty of contempt

New Delhi: The apex court on Tuesday held the then acting CBI director M Nageswara Rao guilty of contempt and be seated in court room as punishment.The other official, Director of Prosecution (DoP) of the agency S Bhasu Ram, was also found guilty of its contempt.

Both were asked by the court to remain seated in the courtroom till it rises as punishment. A fine of Rs 1 lakh each on them was also imposed by the highest court of the land for willfully disobeying its order by transferring CBI joint Director A K Sharma.Sharma was then probing the Bihar shelter home sexual assault cases.The top court had issued contempt notice against Rao for transferring Sharma.
